The Ngorongoro Balloon Safari offers a unique chance to witness the southern Serengeti ecosystem—part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area—from the sky. Available during the Great Migration’s calving season (Dec–Mar), this sunrise balloon flight takes you over the open plains of Ndutu, where thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and predators roam.
Ideal for guests already staying in or near the Ndutu area, this add-on includes early morning hotel pickup, a scenic balloon flight, and a champagne bush breakfast in the wilderness. It’s a perfect highlight to include in your longer Tanzania safari.
04:30 – 05:00 AM: Lodge Pickup (Ndutu Area Only)
You’ll be picked up from your lodge or tented camp in the Ndutu region, south of Ngorongoro. Transfer to the designated launch site. Coffee, tea, and biscuits are served on arrival.
05:30 AM: Safety Briefing and Balloon Setup
Meet your pilot and receive a full safety briefing while watching the crew inflate the balloon under the early morning stars.
06:00 AM: Take Off – Sunrise Balloon Safari
Lift off just before sunrise. Enjoy a peaceful 60-minute flight over the short-grass plains. This is one of the best places to witness the Great Migration’s calving season, with large herds and likely predator sightings from the air.
07:00 – 07:30 AM: Landing and Champagne Toast
After landing, the ground team welcomes you with a traditional champagne toast—a long-standing balloon safari tradition.
08:00 AM: Bush Breakfast in the Wild
Enjoy a freshly prepared bush breakfast in a safe and scenic setting under an acacia tree or near a dry riverbed. Tables, chairs, and full service included.
09:30 AM: Return to Camp or Continue Game Drive
You’ll be returned to your lodge, or your guide can meet you to continue your scheduled safari activities for the day.
