This 3-day birding safari takes you to two of Tanzania’s top birding parks—Lake Manyara and Tarangire. Lake Manyara is famous for its mix of water birds and forest species, while Tarangire is known for dry savannah birds, large flocks of hornbills, and raptors. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of birding experience, this trip offers a close-up look at the diversity of birds in northern Tanzania, along with some general wildlife sightings along the way.
Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Spend the day birdwatching in the forest, along the lake, and in open grassy areas. Common sightings include flamingos, pelicans, spoonbills, African fish eagles, and silvery-cheeked hornbills.
Overnight at a lodge/campsite near Lake Manyara.
Day 2: Lake Manyara – Tarangire National Park
After an early breakfast, head to Tarangire National Park. The park is known for its huge baobab trees and bird-rich river valley. Look out for yellow-collared lovebirds, martial eagles, bateleurs, and colorful barbets. Enjoy a full-day birding drive with your guide.
Overnight at a lodge/campsite near Tarangire.

Enjoy a short morning bird walk or drive before returning to Arusha. You may still spot hornbills, parrots, and small woodland birds on your way out. Drop-off in Arusha town or at the airport.
