The Lemosho Route is one of the best trails for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers great views and more time to adjust to the altitude, which improves your chances of reaching the summit. This 8-day route starts on the quieter western side of the mountain and joins up with the Machame Route. You’ll go through forests, open plains, and high-altitude landscapes before reaching the top of Africa. Every night, you’ll camp with full support from your guide and mountain crew.
Day 1: Lemosho Gate (2,100m) – Big Tree Camp (2,800m)
Trek through the rainforest where you may spot monkeys and birds.
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Overnight at Big Tree Camp
Day 2: Big Tree Camp – Shira 1 Camp (3,500m)
Hike through woodland to reach the open plains of Shira Plateau.
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Overnight at Shira 1 Camp
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)
A shorter walk across the plateau with wide views of the mountain.

Overnight at Shira 2 Camp
Day 4: Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower (4,600m) – Barranco Camp (3,960m)
Climb to Lava Tower for altitude adjustment, then descend to Barranco Valley.

Overnight at Barranco Camp
Day 5: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp (4,035m)
Climb Barranco Wall and follow the trail through valleys and ridges.
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Overnight at Karanga Camp
Day 6: Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp (4,640m)
Final hike before summit night. Rest and prepare for the next day.

Overnight at Barafu Camp
Day 7: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,100m)
Start the climb at midnight and reach the summit by sunrise. After photos and celebration, descend to Mweka.

Overnight at Mweka Camp
Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate
Finish your trek with a descent through the forest. Transfer back to your hotel.
