This 8-day birding safari takes you to three of Tanzania’s most unique bird habitats—Lake Manyara, Lake Natron, and Lake Eyasi. These lakes are part of the Great Rift Valley and are known for their rich birdlife and beautiful landscapes. You’ll spot everything from flamingos and pelicans to raptors, storks, and many rare species. This safari also includes cultural visits with local communities to give you a deeper connection with the region.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Arrive in Arusha. You’ll be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your lodge. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy some light birding around the lodge or nearby areas.

Day 2: Arusha – Lake Manyara
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park. This park is home to more than 400 bird species, including pelicans, flamingos, kingfishers, hornbills, and more. Explore the lake shores and forested areas.

Day 3: Full Day at Lake Manyara
Spend the full day birding at Lake Manyara. Look for both waterbirds and forest species. This area is also great for spotting animals like elephants, baboons, and even tree-climbing lions.

Day 4: Lake Manyara – Lake Natron
Drive north to Lake Natron, one of the most important breeding sites for lesser flamingos in East Africa. The drive itself offers birding opportunities along the way.

Day 5: Full Day at Lake Natron
Spend the day around Lake Natron. Walk along the lake edge to observe flamingos and other waders. Also explore nearby streams and rocky areas for more bird species.

Day 6: Lake Natron – Lake Eyasi
After breakfast, travel to Lake Eyasi. This alkaline lake attracts large numbers of waterbirds. In the afternoon, enjoy a short walk for birding and a cultural visit to a local Datoga village.

Day 7: Lake Eyasi Birding + Hadzabe Experience
Spend the morning birding along the shores of Lake Eyasi. Later, visit the Hadzabe people—traditional hunter-gatherers of the region—and learn about their way of life.

Day 8: Lake Eyasi – Arusha
After breakfast, drive back to Arusha with possible birding stops along the way. Drop off at your hotel or the airport depending on your travel plans.
